Complete a customer dress
Take a townsperson’s commission, measure the customer, design the dress, buy and cut fabric, sew the pieces together, and add decorations. Completing a commission earns money and reputation.
From measurements to finished dress
- Take the visiting customer’s measurements and note their requested event and style.
- Use the sketchbook to build a design from bodices, sleeves, collars, and skirts. Consider how fabrics and accessories fit the customer’s requested style.
- Select and purchase fabric, then place the pattern pieces before cutting. Their position relative to the grain or bias affects the finished look; arranging them can reduce waste.
- Assemble the cut pieces on the adjustable dress form, then feed the fabric through the sewing machine while guiding it along the required seam.
- Add decorations such as buttons, bows, appliqué, or lace, then complete the commission to receive money and reputation.
Quality and failed commissions
Guide the fabric along the required seam carefully: inaccurate sewing reduces the garment’s quality.
A failed commission should still pay if the character accepts it.
